Aunty Mert. What a beautiful soul.
We grew up on Palatine Road, and became very close to the Watson family. Although we were neighbours, we grew up like family. Hence Mrs Watson is affectionately known to me as my Aunty Mert.
I spent so many hours in her company growing up, this continued into my adulthood. We’d decorate cakes together, iron clothes for the week, make patties together. We’d share so many jokes together, and chatted about EVERYTHING 🙂
Aunty Mert loved to cook, she always ensured that when I left the house, I never left empty handed… her words were, “here is a LIKKLE something fi you”.
Aunty Mert was one of my greatest supporters, non judgmental, kind, she had a great sense of humour, at the same time she would put you in your place, that never happened to me much 🙂
Rest in peace Aunty Mert, and thank you for the wonderful memories.
Condolences to my bestie Carvelle, Stephen and Gary.
