A beautiful service for our beautiful friend Caroline. Her smile and kindness lit up our hearts. She would be so proud of you all. We will always remember fondly of Elliott running upto Caroline when he was little as soon as he saw her in the playground at Swithland School! Such warm memories of a wonderful lady x

Hi All – Daniel here.

Thank you all for your profound love, kindness and for sharing in this most precious moment in our lives. While the woman named Caroline Kai-hian Chin was my beloved mother, she was many other things to you all – a wife, an aunt, a sister, a daughter, a confidant, an advisor, and so many things more. It is sad to see her go as her Son, but please don’t devalue your grief just because your connection with her is different. Treasure those feelings, for that just means Mum was important to you, which is the greatest gift to me of her impact on the world.

We all have a Mum-shaped hole in our lives, with only each other to fill it. Of course, with all the small pieces of my dear Mum that you carry with you, we can join them together to create a bigger whole. I know that some of you have already forged connections with each other, if not have become inspired to carry out her good work in your own way. Even if her name gets lost to history, seeing you all do acts of aggressive kindness is, I believe, a good way carry on her legacy and spirit.

I hope to remain connected with you for many years to come, to see how you carry her in your hearts. For a lack of any better words: thank you for loving my Mummy.

❤️

Caroline was such a wonderful friend, we spent so many happy times together from spa days, walks, cinema trips, lunches and dinners but whatever we did there was always lots of laughter. Caroline was interested in what everyone was doing and even during this last year she wanted to know what was happening for others.
The service today was exactly what Caroline would have wanted, people around that loved her and there are many.
Sending our condolences to Derek, Gabriel, Daniel & Becci and remember we are here if there is anything you need x

Dear Derek, Gabriel and Daniel. I wish you strength as you cope with such a loss. A shining light has gone out. But there are wonderful memories and today was an opportunity to celebrate as well as mourn. Remember always the love and care Carol gave to us all.

My dearest Chee. It’s a strange feeling to realise that now, there are more of our family up in heaven than there are here on earth ! I see you whole again, feasting at the Lord’s banquet, free from pain and having your fill of fresh cream and scones. Gab , Dan and Becci. Thank you for your beautiful words today . Much love to you all and Derek.

She has attained the permanence
She dreamed of, where old stones lie sunning.
Untended stalks blow over her
Even and swift, like young men running.

Always in the heart she loved
Others had lived,—she heard their laughter.
She lies where none has lain before,
Where certainly none will follow after.

Hugs to you all, Derek, Gabe, Becci & Dan <3

I caused Aunty C much distress over the years I'm sure, even from the beginning – we were throwing our entry cards in the air at a museum one day and I got one stuck on top of an exhibit somehow. 'You're supposed to be the oldest' she told me – I remember it fondly now along with all the other treasured memories I have of her. Regardless of the distress she always acted with so much love and never stopped trying to understand where on earth I was coming from whilst also offering guidance. She was the very best surrogate mum I could have asked for.

You have all been so strong for so long, I hope you can find comfort in her wonderful memories and legacy, and knowledge that she is now at peace.
Sending all our love – Rachel, Chris & Ava

Aunty Carol is at rest. May her legacy carry on through the lives of all those she has loved and helped. Praying for peace for her beloved family that she has had to temporarily leave behind.

We are sorry we were unable to celebrate her life and mourn her passing in person.

Lots of love from Don and Athena.
